Having Fun at "All Dressed UP"!!!!!!!

Last Saturday the Madison Area Sewing Guild did the alterations for the Junior Leagues annual event  called,
"All Dressed Up"
About 12 of our members donated several hours to this all day wonderful  event.

This  is really a great event where teenage girls are able to come and pick out a prom dress, shoes, accessories and have the dress altered all in one place and all for free!!!!  The Junior League has this down to a science and they do a grand job!!!  Each girl is paired with a Fairy God Mother, who helps  pick a dress and all the trimmings, which is really a nice idea.  The girls and their friends or moms are given the royal treatment. Many local businesses donate gift certificates for hair, nails, make-up, etc.  Not to mention samples and demos.  This year it was held at MATC Truax, and that was a really nice place with lots of room for everything.

I have to admit I didn't think this would be this much fun, I had boys and prom dresses were not on my agenda, but it was a great day and tons of fun!!!!  They had about 4,000 dresses for the girls to choose from in every size, color, style you can think of!!!  Over 360 dresses were given out that Saturday, what a day!!!!  I believe we marked and worked on a least 75 garments.  Our Sewing Guild did a fabulous job and we made a lot of girls very happy!!!!

I guess the moral to this story is, 'you have to give to get'!!!!  And this was one fun way to give and I am looking forward to next year..

Back From Arkansas!!!

Boy, a week sure flies by!!!  I'm not sure how long a vacation should last but 1 week really doesn't seem long enough.  We had a great time left Wisconsin and stayed the first night with our son Brandon at Lake Ozark.  We had a nice meal, Chef Brandon prepared, he's really quite the chef and left in the morning for my folks in Arkansas, his grandparents.  Our older son and his wife, Ben and Melissa were already there!!!

We had a wonderful weekend and the kids headed back to Missouri and work.  We stayed for all the fun!!!  Our week was filled with Bargain Box, the church resale, always good bargains, ladies luncheons, St. Pat's party, our gumbo party, Chucks BBQ, a bit of sewing and Dave and Dad made us new night stands!!!  Dad's latest project is license plate birdhouses, more on that later.  We also went to Garvin Gardens, a beautiful woodland garden in Hot Springs, my folks are volunteers there every Friday plus they sell the birdhouses!!!!

So then we headed north and stopped in Missouri again to touch base with the kids had pizza and headed home Monday.  We love the Ozark Mtns and all the smoke houses, a treat you don't see much of up north!!!!  So back to the grind lots of ideas spinning in the old head so lots more for later!!!!

This weekend is the All Dressed Up event put on by the Junior League and the Sewing Guild is doing the alterations for the girls, should be a fun busy day.  They are doing this at MATC this year due to the size of the event, hundreds of girls will be outfitted for the prom season at no charge, a very cool deal!!

And we can't forget Happy St. Patrick's Day to one and all!!!  For our party last Saturday in Hot Springs I brought a super easy dip that was a huge success.

Reuben Dip

1 c. mayo
1/2 lb. chopped corned beef, deli is ok I used the real stuff!!!
1 can sauerkraut drained 14 oz.
1 lb shredded swiss cheese
1 c. cheddar cheese shredded

mix all together place in a 9 x 13 pan bake for 30-40 minutes at 350

serve with toasted rye bread, little ones, bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes till crispy or chips or crackers.  For a festive touch  drizzle Thousand Island dressing over the top for a bit of color.

A wonderful, easy dip for any occassion!!!

Arkansas!!!!!

We are here visiting my folks in Hot Springs!!!  We had a great trip down and had the kids, Ben and Melissa and Brandon here  all together!!!  what fun!!! Poor Grandma isn't used to cooking for 7 + folks but we made it!!!

Weather has been much nicer than home and WARMER!!!  That is the key this time of year, anything warmer than home is GOOD!!  We are having lots of fun seeing everyone from the area and shopping and eating out!!!  I'll have a full account once we get home and sorted out.  Today is the Lindal Ladies Lunch, that's the neighborhood group, eating at the Wharf, a place on the lake.  And Friday night we'll have a Gumbo party here and Sat. a St Pat party at Beth's.  No sitting around!!!

Dave and Dad have made 2 really nice night stands for our bedroom, my Dad is quite the woodworker and Dave is right behind him!!!!  More on that story........

Happy Spring!!!!
